Composition

Here are a wide array of abstractions focusing on line, form, texture, color, harmonic and rhythmic structure. The idea of non-representational visual art and music sharing the same emotional structure is one that has fueled my expression. The father of abstract painting and one of my biggest influences, Wassily Kandisky, developed this concept in great depth. As a classical musician I am very keen to the powerful effect that music has on an individual and believe that at the core all of arts power is spirit. The goal of my abstractions is to achieve the level of intensity that music creates for the spirit in visual art. The title of this series, Compositions, is a complex term that has one definition with several variations. In one sense composition is the essence refers to line and form, which is an intrinsic aspect of visual art. In musical terms a composition is a notated work or the act of writing music. These are not just random images they are well thought out works with a specific motive in mind… To achieve the pure and complex emotions of the human spirit in a work of art.
