IN
After a few months of experimenting with different exposure techniques, I came across one that allowed for the creation (production) of abstractions that spoke clearly to me. This technique allows me to express how I feel when I am in the object. "IN" refers to a few things:
1. The physical sense one gets when examining these particulare images - a feeling of being pulled in.
2. To be in something and to be completely encompassed by it - not just seeing what an object or place looks like but feeling as well. A synesthetic experience.
Abstract photography is a fantastic vehicle to present this sentiment. The great painter Georgia O'Keeffe said, "I had to create an equivalent for what I felt about what I was looking at - not copy it". To translate this into photography is a unique experiment: because cameras are often used to perfectly render what they portray, there is traditionally a sense of objectivity about the artform, which I am trying to transcend.
